
USING "MACRIUM REFLECT FREE EDITION" TO BACK UP
A COMPUTER
You can download a free copy of "Macrium Reflect Free Edition" ("Macrium") at http://www.macrium.com/download.asp
Save it to an new appropriately-named folder on one of the local hard drives of your computer. Then, double-click on it to start its installation process.
Start "Macrium”:
Its initial window looks like this:

Click on “Backup” on the “Menu bar”:

Click on “Create Image” on the pull-down menu:


Click on the “Next” button:

Select the entire disk that you wish to back up:

Click on the “Next” button:

Select the location that you wish to back up to. It will usually be an external hard drive.
Clicking on the right drop-down list arrow to the right of “Browse for folder..”:

Then click on the highlighted “Browse for folder..” choice:
A “Browse For Folder” dialog box will be displayed:

Use this window to select the location that you wish to have “Macrium Reflect Free” put the “image files” of the backup:

Then click on the “OK” button:

Click on the “OK” button.

Make sure that the correct path is displayed for the “backup location” where the image files will be placed by “Macrium”.
Click on the “Next” button:

Click on the “Advanced” button:

Select option button for “Make an exact copy (clone) of the partition(s).”:

Click on “File Size” to highlight it:

Select the option for “Enter a fixed file size for the image.”

Change the size to 680.00 MB, if you might eventually store the files of the backup image onto 700 MB CD-R discs.
Change the size to 9100.00 MB, if you might eventually store the files of the backup image onto double-layer DVD discs.
Otherwise, change the size to 4500.00 MB so that you have to option of storing the files of the backup image onto DVD-R discs.

Click on the “OK” button and the dialog box will turn into a "Create Backup Wizard" box:

Click on the “Finish” button.

Click on the “OK” button:

The backup process will start.


Click on the "OK" button.

Click on the "Close" button.

Click on the "X" button in the upper right-hand corner to close the "Macrium Reflect" software application.
